Sustainability and growth
With our first sustainability report, we have written an important new chapter in our company’s history to promote sustainable growth and achieve a positive impact on the environment, society and the economy. We have defined an action plan for sustainability goals- ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) that is aligned with the United Nations (UN) Agenda 2030, which includes the 17 Sustainable Development Goals-( SDGs) to “achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.”
Enviroment
Aware that business decisions should consider the sustainable development of the country and planet, we have embarked on a path aimed at reducing energy impact and emissions. Among these choices are our innovative packaging with 75% less plastic than conventional trays, new washing plants, the use of well water to reduce water consumption, and the calculation of the carbon footprint to determine the environmental impact of production. In addition, with the “Veroni Bike to Work” project, we want to want to create incentives for our employees to use bicycles as a means of transportation between home and work.
People
When we talk about sustainability, it means that we care about the well-being of the people who have always been our strength and pride. We have defined a strategy that focuses on a solid training program by increasing the number of hours offered in 2021 by 72% and the number of hours dedicated to safety by 63%. With excellent results: in 2022, we dedicated more than 2,100 hours to skills upgrading. At the same time, we are working to promote diversity and inclusion among our 242 employees by intensifying listening hours and launching initiatives such as the Digital Academy and the Veroni Community.
Community
Social responsibility goes beyond concern for the community. That is why we have been living the connection with Emilia-Romagna for almost 100 years with a view to an ever-stronger mutual exchange. We have numerous partnerships with social promotion associations such as Caritas of Correggio, and several local sports clubs, including the Correggio basketball team. Since 2022, we have been the main sponsor of the Insuperabili Onlus association, which brings inclusion in sports and to which we feel a strong connection. In addition to financial contributions, in 2022, we donated more than 11 tons of products for charity.
