Sustainability and growth
The second Sustainability Report, covering our fiscal year 2023, marks another milestone in our evolutionary journey, detailing our progress in environmental, social, and corporate governance responsibility projects – ESG dynamics – with the goal of generating a positive impact on the territory, our community, and reducing the impact generated by production. The strategy follows the United Nations (UN) Agenda 2030, which encompasses the 17 Sustainable Development Goals – Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs – created “to live in a better and more sustainable future for all.”
Environment
Our sustainable development process to reduce environmental impact has continued through significant investments in green technologies. These include packaging with 75 percent less plastic, advanced heat recovery systems, and energy consumption meters. The Langhirano site, after Correggio, has also obtained ISO 14001 certification. Water consumption has been optimized through reuse of condensation water and expanded use of well water for the irrigation of green areas. The Bike to Work project, created to encourage our employees to focus on sustainable mobility on the home-to-work route, recorded more than 23,000 km traveled and 3 tons of CO₂ saved. To promote the circular economy, a large part of our employees recycled an amount of 26 kilograms of remanufactured work and sports shoes to make synthetic mats thanks to the Back to Work project.
People
Promoting people’s well-being is one of our core strengths. In 2023, we increased training hours by 64 percent over 2022, with 3,588 hours dedicated to skills upgrading and occupational safety. We have introduced “time-saving” services, such as on-site car washing, flexible schedules, a “time bank,” as well as shopping vouchers, medical reimbursement, and solidarity leave, which allows employees to offer their leave to colleagues in need, all in support of a more inclusive work environment. In parallel with the Digital Academy, we offer our employees online courses on innovation and sustainability, ensuring easy and continuous access to new learning opportunities. The SA8000 certification, achieved in 2023, underscores the importance of people’s well-being and safety when working for our company. Last but not least, our new platform dedicated to whistleblowing ensures a secure channel for anonymous reporting.
Community
Our social responsibility approach encompasses our community and territory. That is why on the eve of our 100th year of operation celebration we are strengthening the link with Emilia-Romagna to give life to an ever-stronger mutual exchange. We have numerous partnerships in place with social promotion associations such as Caritas and the Red Cross, and several local sports organizations, including the Correggio basketball team. For the third consecutive year, we are the Main Sponsor of the Insuperabili Foundation, an organization that has given full meaning to inclusiveness in sports and with which we have had a deep connection since 2022. In addition to financial contributions, we donated nearly 15 tons of products to charity in 2023.

Governance
The year 2023 was a year of major milestones ahead of another major goal: in 2025 we will celebrate 100 years of history. To strengthen our brand’s positioning internationally, in June 2023 we sold our equity shares to the U.S. SugarCreek Packing Co. a leading U.S. meat processing group with its headquarters in Cincinnati, OHIO.
